Kayla is a passionate dance educator with over 15 years of experience in a wide range of dance styles and performance settings. She is thrilled to be sharing her love of dance with the students of Make Your Mark Dance this season.
Kayla began her training at JD’s Fabulous Feet in Red Deer, Alberta, where she developed strong foundations and a deep appreciation for the art of dance. While attending the University of Alberta, she continued to grow her skills as both a dancer and a leader through MOD Contemporary Dance Movement, a student-run company where she held executive roles including External Communications Officer and Vice President.
After earning her Bachelor of Secondary Education, Kayla began teaching full-time at St. Joseph High School in Red Deer. Now in her fourth year of teaching, she continues to blend her passions for dance and education. In 2023, Kayla expanded her professional and personal horizons by moving to Boston to complete her Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. During her time there, she danced with the Boston College Golden Eagles Dance Team, performing at football games, campus events, and even at major sports venues like a New England Patriots game and a Boston Celtics halftime show.
Kayla also brings professional dance experience to her teaching, having danced for the Edmonton Elks for three seasons. Highlights of her time with the team include performing at every home game, participating in community events, and dancing at the 2024 Grey Cup halftime show with the Jonas Brothers.
Kayla is dedicated to creating a positive, encouraging, and empowering space for dancers to learn, grow, and express themselves. She believes in the power of dance to build confidence, community, and lifelong joy, and is excited to support each dancer in their journey at Make Your Mark Dance.
