Owner & Director
Meagan was born and raised in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Her love affair with dance started when she was five years old, and only grows deeper with each passing year. Growing up Meagan found her dance home at Juliette’s Dance Centre. It is here that her true passion for dance, and eventually teaching, blossomed.
After moving up the studio ladder, she realized that teaching dance was a rewarding and inspiring career, and made the decision to become a professional teacher. Within 3 years, and with much dedication, she was awarded her teaching certificates from the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) and the Canadian Dance Teacher’s Association (CDTA)
Meagan’s desire to learn has taken her all over North America to study, taking classes at The EDGE (Los Angeles), Broadway Dance Centre (NYC), and from teachers like Sean Cheesman, Sherrie Scherger, Mia Michaels & Mandy Moore to name a few.
A job offer to teach at Dance Traxx Studio resulted in Meagan’s move to Red Deer in 2007. It is upon her move to Red Deer that she graduated from the Associated Dance Arts for Teachers (ADAPT) Teacher Training School. Since moving to Alberta Meagan has had the opportunity to adjudicate at many dance festivals and loves providing feedback to these young, talented dancers.
After teaching at Dance Traxx Studio for 4 years, Meagan purchased the studio, taking the next step in her teaching career. She has owned and directed the studio since 2011, changing the name to Make Your Mark Dance in 2016.
Meagan believes that dance is an outward expression of our innermost thoughts and feelings. She passionately shares her love of dance with all of her students. Many of her students have pursued careers in dance, studying at the Canadian College of Performing Arts (Victoria BC), Randolph Academy of the Performing Arts (Toronto ON), and Alvin Ailey in New York City. They are performers and teachers now as well! Meagan is proud of all of her dancers and loves watching them grow into strong, confident adults.
